What is Social Wellness?
Stimulating environments are crucial for mental growth and to create stable relationships. If you have a great support system then you can do anything you put your mind to. As humans, we look towards others for guidance and to help with decision making, so without strong healthy relationship our social life might feel neglected. This is especially important for the introverts of the world because they rely on a few close friends to make them feel important too. We learn our social wellness behavior from our parents, which sometimes can shape an individual negatively. However, there are many ways to assist the process of reaching social wellness balance.
What Are Some Activities Which Promote Social Wellness?
- Activity 1: Get involved
Getting involved with local communities or charities is a great way to surround yourself with others who have the same values and interests. Having a sense of purpose in life can transform a person to be a better, more giving human being. This can also be applied to those who have children, by being more actively involved in their sporting events or in their interests. Numerous college students get involved with their community through clubs offered at the school or through trips they provide. People have the opportunity to even create/ organize an organization or charity that they believe strongly in. This is just one way to become active in your neighborhood and start your journal to a well balanced lifestyle.
- Activity 2: Relationships
Everyone has a story about a friend who was toxic for them or the friend that was never there when they needed them. This is why forming healthy relationships are super important for everyone, especially young adults as they are maturing. Starting with your family is a great place to start when you are unsure of what to do. This is connected with activity one because you can include family members and friends in a place where you can form stronger bonds with them. It is acceptable to let those who harm you in any way that maybe it is time to break away because your mental health is more important than what they are bringing to the table. Many young adults learn this the hard way when they are leaving for college or even just throughout the years in high school as people grow up. Always put your wellness first!
